Beginning Intaglio Fall 2001

Union of Opposites

For your third print project:

1. Prepare (2) two zinc plates. Each must be a minimum of  7" x   9". (you can go as large as you like)
2. Choose an idea or issue that is important to you. Something you know something about and that you have thought about. Maybe it is something you enjoy or is an issue you have dealt with recently. Now determine what the opposite of this idea or idea would be. If you were trying to tell someone what your original idea or issue was not, what would you well them?
3. Now, create two images that deal with each side of your issue or idea using any of the techniques you have been shown, including Softground and Aquatint. Try to best capture each idea/issue in each particular image. How do you portray such using black and white intaglio as your medium?

• A final edition of (6) six prints will be due for each plate. (a total of 12 prints will be turned in) Prints are to be signed, titled, and numbered. They should be placed between interleaving and presented in a professional manner. You have a little more time with this project so really work the plate, make it do what you want it to do! Create an image that you are proud to show and willing to discuss.

DUE DATE:       Proof(s) - Tuesday, October 16th  (REQUIRED FOR MID SEMESTER GRADING!!!)

                                 Final Prints  - Thursday, October 25th
