Charlotte: I'd have to say that this is one of my favorite places. It doesn't have anything to do with the numerous, tasty beers on tap, of course.

Winthorpe: Of course not, my dear. How many beers are there, exactly?

Charlotte: A lot. My personal favorite is the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale ($3.50 pt /$2.50 Happy Hour). Oh, and the food is good, too. The Chimes boasts a casual, collegiate air, where one can feel comfortable in jeans, but still enjoy excellent entrees. The pork chops are far superior to any I've had elsewhere. And at $9.95 for two chops you can never go wrong!

Winthorpe: The pork chops are good, but the fried catfish and shrimp are always perfect. However, in this visit, the half rack of baby ribs ($13.95) was my feast of choice. They were tender, succulent, and I could easily cut them with my fork. Not that I'm not a finger man...

Charlotte: I've never accused you of not being a finger man... anyway, amongst the other offerings, the cheese fries with jalapenos are sinfully cheesy, served with gravy. For those watching their red meat or cheese intake, the blackened salmon sandwich, at $5.95, is a gourmet twist to the forkless food selection.

Winthorpe: The cheese fries, at $4.95, are indeed superb, but the regular french fries that came with the ribs were more than enough. I also enjoyed the salad, with the bleu cheese dressing, which I believe is home made by the Chimes.

Charlotte: Other entrees include: pasta alfredo, ribeye steak, fish of the day, and the best bargain on the menu, the red beans and rice, for only 4.95, including salad, and a wonderful little dinner role. The seafood gumbo is a Louisiana favorite.

Winthorpe: Don't forget the crawfish ettouffe!

Charlotte: If you are hungry, come early. The Chimes doesn't take reservations, and after 7, the wait can be long, especially on Fridays.

Winthorpe: And if you are still hungry, for dessert, the ice cream brownie sundae ($5.95)  is my favorite, with a warm brownie smothered in whip cream--yum.
